Why do special language characters appear corrupted on my snom300 display?

This FAQ concerns:
  • snom300 MAC addresses 00041325XXXX
  • foreign languages using special character set, e.g. french, spanish, "scandinavian", etc.
Issue:
Special characters used in certain languages are displayed incorrectly and appear to be corrupt. Only german umlaute (ä,ö,ü) are displayed correctly.
This occurs since the displays of the first snom 300 hardware design turned out to be incapable to show these special characters properly.

Workaround:
There is no workaround available. The issue has been solved on the new snom300 hardware design revision with MAC addresses starting from 00041328XXXX.
