What is the difference between a Voice Box 2 and an SPA3000?
An engin Voice Box 2 is the same model ATA as the SPA-3000. The Voice Box 2 is an engin branded SPA-3000 that comes locked and configured to the VoIP provider engin. When you purchase an SPA-3000 it is not configured/locked to any provider. You will need to configure your ATA to your chosen VoIP provider. You can set the SPA-3000 to dial out on more than one provider.
An engin Voice Box 2 comes locked to the VoIP provider engin. You receive a 30 money back guarantee from engin. The SPA-3000 is configured to engin and after a quick sign up procedure you can dial out using engin as your VoIP provider. While it is locked to engin you cannot add any other VoIP providers to your dial plan. You will need to contact engin to have your Voice Box unlocked. After unlocking your Voice Box will be a plain SPA-3000 (with a nice engin logo) and you can remain connected to engin under their BYO plan, and/or join any other provider. A pre-configured ATA is a good option for the non-technically minded among us. engin can also provide more detailed support for locked customers.
